Six local artists were awarded prizes for their artistic endeavors at the Image Art Show in Braham over the weekend. Approximately 150 pieces of art from artists in the five counties of Kanabec, Chisago, Pine, MilleLacs and Isanti were entered the show.
Receiving first place in the Drawing category was Erica Belkholm of Mora with her drawing entitled, “Divine Wind 1”. Also placing in the Drawing category was Cindy Buck, also of Mora, who received a third place award for her drawing entitled, “Minimalism”.
Terri Huro-Torgerson of Brook Park was awarded first place for her watercolor, “Body Parts and Butterflies: Ribcage” in the Transparent Painting category. Also receiving a first place award was Deb Newton with her pottery drum, “Spirit of the Snail” in the Functional Sculpture category.
Receiving second place in photography was Dee Kotaska of Mora with her image entitled, “Bowl of Beauty”. Roger Nieboer of Mora received a third place award for his installation piece “World View #11” in the Other category. Roger’s piece of art was also selected for purchase by the Arts Council for their permanent collection.
The show is open to the public until November 21 at the East Central Regional Arts Council 112 Main Avenue S. in Braham.
