New look for Paradise

The Weekend of April 26th brought along the 2nd Annual Paradise Theatre Film Festival, this year featuring Movies Made in Minnesota! From a 4 minute short by Mora native, current New York resident, Jen Larson to a 2 plus hour movie documentary about the doings of Sunrise, MN celebrity Wade Olson, the weekend event was unique and an experience for all.

Roger Neiboer, through a grant from the ECRAC, graced us with the entertainment of his Existentia – an interactive enlightening travel experience. Participants learned a bit about themselves and how they travel!

Now, onto the project of remodeling the lobby of the theatre. The plan is to remove the defunct coal chimney wall that blocks the concession area from the lobby, move and remodel the current ticket horseshoe so that the concession area and lobby become all one. wall from street entrance looking northwest

Graced with palm trees and bamboo, decorated and painted to compliment the Paradise theme, the lobby will be opened up to accommodate groups and be one space. small rendering of new lobby

Other than the wall, no other architectural/structural changes will be made. To support the horizontal beam where the wall was, 4 posts will be put into place and revamped by Keith Raivo to resemble stainless steel palm trees (complete with monkey?).  Eric Carlisle will again put his artistic talents into action – adding palm trees, bamboo, delivering eye trickery of distances and depth throughout the lobby and concession areas.

The Paradise Theatre has much going on, please stay connected, ask questions and by all means – VISIT!
