Over 40 area artists will display over 140 works of art in the annual Vasaloppet Art Show, sponsored by the Kanabec County Art Association. This art show, held in conjunction with the Vasaloppet Ski Race, is held at St. Mary’s Parish Center in Mora February 7-9.
In addition to the art, local artists will also be demonstrating their crafts. Saturday, at 11am Lauri Rockne will demonstrate the art of making and playing PVC flutes. At 2pm Carl Long will demonstrate basket weaving. On Sunday at 11:30, Carl Long and Terri Huro will demonstrate screen printing of tee shirts with the Art Saturday logo. At 1pm Deb Newton Frantz will demonstrate the creation of fish whistles.
Bethany Whitehead, Director of the Banfil Center for the Arts in Fridley will lead a gallery tour on Friday at 7pm. The public is invited to hear her discuss the art work in the show.
A silent auction will raise funds for the KCAA arts scholarship fund.
The show is free and open to the public from 2-9pm on Friday, February 7, from 10am to 5pm on Saturday, February 8 and from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, February 9
