“It’s a glorious day to ski! We’re getting ready for the Moraloppet ski for the cure. 11:00 start!”
“And they’re off!”
Since 2012, the Moraloppet has been run the weekend prior to the Mora Vasaloppet. Offering both a 10km and 20km race, along with a 5km non-competitive tour, the Moraloppet raises funds to benefit the local affiliate of Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

Plus, there’s snow falling this morning, with more predicted for early this afternoon. As one Vasa Facebook commenter put it:
Well once again it is snowing in Mora. It snows, trails are groomed and it snows. What a great winter of skiing.
Great conditions indeed! You can keep up with the latest on the official Vasaloppet website.
As of today (2/1), the week ahead looks to be filled with sunshine and daytime temps ranging from the single digits to the mid-teens above zero… no fears of melting here! A slim chance of flurries Tuesday may even add a bit of powder to the area’s already excellent snow cover.
Still, consistent 5-10mph winds predicted for the week will bring challenges of their own, with a wind chill expected to range from the teens to twenties below zero.
